From Father to Son
In 2009, Titus Baptist took over the leadership from his father Pierre, bringing a fresh perspective to the family business. He decided to consolidate the three city-center locations in Arnhem into one: the IJsseloord I industrial area. Since then, this location has offered an extensive collection of hardware, tools, and woodworking products, easily accessible with ample parking. “Our location is not only convenient for our customers in Arnhem, but also for those from across the Netherlands and Belgium,” Titus says.
In 2024, Baptist celebrated its 40th anniversary with a grand Baptist Weekendshow at Papendal.
Advice On- and Offline
Titus has broadened and deepened the product range. “Our customers are often experts in their field. That’s why our staff are not just salespeople but true advisors,” he explains. “To share knowledge, we post helpful instructional videos on our website, and we’re investing in Baptist as a learning center. We offer space to training centers for courses in furniture making and woodworking, and major brands regularly showcase their products with us.”
“We find it essential to pass on these crafts and knowledge, but we’re definitely not the course leaders. Others are much better suited for that,” says Titus. “For the past few years, we’ve had a building with a workshop on-site, offering even more space for workshops, courses, and demonstrations by suppliers.”
